New book from François Vivier: “construire son bateau en bois”
This last summer 2020, a new book was published, dealing with wooden boatbuilding techniques. It describes both the traditional and modern ways of building a boat, with an emphasis on small boats. The last section gives instructions as well as drawings to build a sail and oar dinghy, Mesker. She is an elegant semi-dory type craft with a lug sloop rig. She may be built either with solid wood as well as plywood. The book has 550 photos, sketches or drawings. I am sorry to say it is written in French. However, an index of technical terms gives English translations.
